Scribble Art
Today we started our next art project. The students were so amazed that all I said was that they could scribble on the paper! I have never seen so much scribbling! Some of the students commented that they hadn't scribbled since they were one year old. Check out our scribble technique and keep a watch on what happens next to our art.
Egg Bounce Number Two
We had a very interesting experience yesterday to add to our egg experiments. Mrs Locky came into visit us as she is going to be working in our class later on this term and brought one of the eggs from her fridge. She had been reading our blog and saw that we had been making bouncing eggs. She wanted to test to see what would happen to her egg from the fridge. Check out what happened.

Class Challenge - Egg Bounce
We did an egg experiment in our class as part of the school challenge. We used 3 eggs in vinegar. We used Malt vinegar and white vinegar for the eggs. One of the vinegars had dye in it. We left our eggs in the vinegar mixture for 2 days for the malt vinegar and 3 days for the white and dyed vinegar.
Our fist egg we tried to bounce was the malt vinegar. We dropped it from 10cm, 50cm, 60cm and then 70cm. They all broke at 70cm when we dropped them.
Our egg bounced 15cm when we slowed the video down and checked it against the ruler. It was the Malt Vinegar egg that bounced the best.
This our blue egg as we had dye in the jar with the white vinegar. |

New Zealand Book Awards Library Visit
Crystal from the Westland Library come into school today. |
Crystal read us the story about Abigail and the Birth of the Sun. This is one of the books in the New Zealand Book Awards. After she had read to us we had to make a sun.
First we had to cut triangles in the paper plate and then we had to weave different coloured wool across the paper plate. Then we had to put a tail onto the plates.
Sun's we made |
We really enjoyed doing them. If you want to see them they will be in the Westland District Library.
Thanks Crystal for coming out to school and working with us.
