Cross Country Videos

At long last, we got to run the cross country.  Here are some videos of our class and the Year 2 students.  All the kids tried hard and did their best. All that training that they had done has paid off.

Firewise Lessons

We have been very lucky to have Zack come in during the last few weeks to teach us about being firewise.  We have learnt how to crawl in the dark and get down and get low.  We have learnt about the legend of Maui and Mahuika.

Today we had the fire truck as well as Peter, Zack and Scott to show us the fire truck as well as some of the gear that the wear and they use.

Thanks agin for the Hokitika Fire Station team for coming out and working with us, we have really enjoyed it.

I was writing about a legend. I enjoyied writing the legend.

We tell a story from a video. I enjoyed writing the story. I found it hard to remeber to put my capital letters after my fullstop.

 Here is a look at the things that we do in Tui.  We are sharing a glimpse of the range of activities and learning that we do.

Maths Work

We have been busy using money to help us with our place value.  They have been working really hard on it.  A couple really wanted to take the hundred dollar notes home!  I said they wouldn't be able to buy anything with it.

Wow super proud of this class and what an awesome job they did of their dance today. Thanks to all the parents for creating some super wacky hairstyles.  You are going to have to wait to see it the final dance can't sneak up a preview sorry!

Life Education Visit

We have had a great two days with Harold in our school.  We have learnt about how we can boost people and how we might bug people.  We have also learnt about what we can do to keep ourselves above the line.

Passion Project

 We have been starting to look at what we are passionate about.  Here are a few of our ideas so far about what we are passionate about.  We have learnt that passion is when you are excited, inspired and challenged by something.

Librarian Visit

Krystel from the Westland District Library 

We were lucky enough to have Rauhine and Krystel from the Westland District Library come to class today and share a story with us.  

Krystel read us Kowhai and the Giants.  This is a New Zealand Book Award book.  We then did a craft activity and had to make a tree and leaves. 

Ruma Tui really enjoyed making their tree.  We had many different shaped trees just like you would see in a forest.

We also learnt about when we are out walking in the bush we could collect some seeds and plant them to grow more trees for us to enjoy.

Story of Poutini and Waitaiki

Here is the story of Waitaki and Poutini that has been retold by the Junior School.  They all decided and made up the actions to go with the story.  Ruma Tui students learnt their lines and did a marvellous job of speaking.  Enjoy Kaniere School juniors performance.

 

 

Matific Olympiad

What a start to the Matific competition.  We had lots of Matific monsters turning up at school this morning to kick off the competition. Tui have been super focussed and working hard to collet as many stars as possible.  Bring on tomorrow to see what we can do.

Korfball Instructions

We had our very first try of Korfball today.  It was such a fun game to play.  All the students had a good go at playing and really tried their best.

We were lucky and had two goes.  Our first part was learning the rules and how to play the game.  Our second part in the afternoon was putting what we have learnt together and playing the game.  Check out our photos and read our comments about what we thought of it.
